Meet Matt Armstrong, he came to JWPT in desperate need of some guidance to take over his lifestyle, nutrition, exercise and mindset. Previously in Matt’s younger years he was an all-weather runner who did regular half marathons (sub 1:30 too!), trained regularly and ate well. However he hit a hurdle in life with knee injuries as a result of playing sports which slowed Matt down and then came along children and career opportunities. Matt’s health, motivation and body shape declined over this period. Matt was not happy in himself and wanted to change and this ignited the fire in his belly to get started with personal training.
12 months at JWPT has been so much more than a 1:1 PT session each week – it’s been a complete education that positively impacts and changes your way of life day in day out.
You can’t out train a bad diet! The key to losing weight rests mostly with the foods you eat which has a knock on effect to how well you can train. As Jake said to us “you wouldn’t fill your car with vegetable oil and expect it to still work” this is exactly the same with the food you consume.
Before stepping foot in the cave i was in a complete mess and had no idea how to get myself out of the deep rut I was in – eating and drinking too much and accepting a sedentary lifestyle. My confidence and mental health was at rock bottom with very bad body image issues due to my level of weight gain.
What Jake has taught me has completely transformed my mindset on lifestyle, health and fitness which is something you wouldn’t get anywhere else than training with a PT. Initially, Jake kept me accountable each week but I feel that this has now evolved into me being accountable to myself as he has helped me cement long lasting lifestyle changes which are here to stay. It’s safe to say I’m the happiest I’ve been, with significant improvement in my mental health, complete elimination of body image issues and fitter and stronger that I ever would have imagined.
Strength based training is something I had never considered in the past or had the confidence or interest to get into. Jake and the team have completely changed that and I’ve built a level of strength to now train with confidence without the fear of injury and know how to get the most out of each rep. The training plan we set up has surpassed any expectation I had as to where my fitness and performance could ever reach; I’m now looking forward to the next steps in my fitness journey taking my new-found knowledge to push on to further fitness goals in the future.

Your program is tailored for your specific needs, and circumstances and you are held to account to hit your goals!
