About 6 months ago a friend recommended Jake Wood’s Bootcamp as I needed a new fitness challenge. Those first sessions on the park were hard work and great fun but I knew that I had wanted to try some additional personal training as I had a specific weight loss and fitness target in mind! That’s when I started Jakes 12 week programme.
On day 1 we met up, set some initial goals, did some food shopping and talked about my existing ‘healthy’ lifestyle and diet……….which turned out to be not so healthy! I’d fallen into all sorts of bad habits, too many glasses of wine, too much processed food, not eating breakfast; Jake gave me some great tips and advice (I have to say I never thought that I’d enjoy a glass of lime juice and pink salt every morning but I do!) and we agreed an eating plan that fitted with my family and work commitments.
Over the weeks the 1:1 sessions have been varied, hard, punishing, fun and brilliant in equal measure and completely focussed on what I wanted to achieve.
I’ve made a number of small but significant changes but remember being told that I needed to commit to the programme or I’d be wasting both of our time – this is so true and, in return, Jakes commitment to my progress is amazing – always responding to questions with answers or ideas. I have to say that it hasn’t always been easy, I did slip up a few times, and I did deserve an occasional kick up the backside, but the results are amazing – I’m 24lbs lighter, a couple of dress sizes smaller, fitter than I’ve ever been and feel confident that the changes that I’ve made are sustainable in the long term. I still have a way to go but know that with Jakes support and his own special brand of motivation I’ll continue to become a better, healthier version of me
