I was always into weight training from a young age, being younger meant more time to my self to be able to train and the energy was always there. My training started to decline during my mid 20s and by the time I was married and my first child came 5 years ago it was basically non existent. Weight started creeping up on me with lack of sleep and poor diet choices.
I had started a new job at the end of 2019, this meant a lot of travelling (eating out on the road) and social events (beer). March 2020, when lockdowns were being implemented was where things went downhill quickly. My food intake tripled and the same could be said about my alcohol intake. I soon ballooned to around 20 stone, this carried on for a while.
In 2021 a close friend of mine told me about ‘Bootcamp’ that he goes too, he got me a trial and i went along, this was a scrapyard event due to inside gym classes not being allowed yet. I couldn’t believe how unfit I was, but the struggle was a positive more than a negative. I could barely run 10 metres and do 4 press ups but the support from Josh at the time was great, along with the rest of the scrapyard participants. I did start to gradually lose weight but my diet and alcohol consumption was still halting my development. I signed up for 2x weekly bootcamps and have done ever since.
It has been 3 years since I joined, I have lost a total of 7 stone and feel fitter than I have ever felt which has not only impacted my health but my family and work life have seen the positive effects. Like most plans my weight has been up and down but the outcome is always a downward trajectory. Jake Wood and his team have been great during this journey, I have had injuries and issues during the 3 years and they offer alternative exercises and support so there are no excuses. Any questions or support I needed in regard to diet was always welcomed and the team’s nutritional knowledge is second to none. I have always felt comfortable going to the Bootcamp classes, it can seem daunting at the beginning but that feeling quickly diminishes with everyone having the same goal, getting fitter in a supportive atmosphere.
I thank Jake and his team for the role they have all played in my weight loss journey. I look forward to the many years ahead working with them and creating new goals going forward. I cannot just write positive comments, the one negative comment is the cost of new clothes. Going from XXL to L has cost a small fortune, but one I am more than happy to spend!
