After yet another lost weekend of kebab meat and chips washed down with one too many pints, I took a look in the mirror and decided it was time to change, I was fast approaching 45, about 3 stones overweight and have never felt so unhealthy and unfit.
I had serious motivation issues and about 100 broken attempts at previously getting into shape, each failure making me feel more down and depressed than before and leading back to those dreaded kebabs.
I didn’t want to be a bad example to my son, seeing his dad quit at everything he tried, it upset me, and I needed to find help from somewhere.
After a quick run through of my training programme, it left me shaking like a leaf and wondering if I had it in me, I just about held onto to my dinner, I wasn’t going to chuck up on my first go.
I was strangely invigorated though, and more determined than ever to succeed. Coming into my second session I was worried about how much I had struggled the week before, but with Jake’s encouragement, support and expertise I had a blast! Don’t get me wrong, it hurt but I was buzzing afterwards and felt I had found the right place for me to reach my goals for the first time in years.
It’s very early days yet, I’m only a week in, but the first signs are encouraging, I’m enjoying the healthy eating, seem to have more focus and drive at work and am looking forward to really turning myself around, it’s a big adventure and I can’t wait to see where it’ll take me.
