The Jake Wood Experience…
I think I knew for a while that I wanted to ‘get fit’ and change my body shape but had absolutely no idea where to start or if it was even possible. So, on the way home about 18 months ago from a particularly indulgent day making chocolates (my job) I saw a sign on the side of the road advertising Jake Wood PT and booked in my first session.
In my first 1:1 PT session, Jake assessed my fitness. I was unfit. 1 single press up and a short ‘dangle’ off the pull up bar was all I could manage but this is where the journey started. A few months of PT sessions later, and with Jake’s guidance and motivation, I already started to see results. Results meant being able to do things I couldn’t previously – some press ups, a plank, rope whips (whatever they are) plus I started to feel fitter. The sessions were always different, fun and I felt like I had achieved something after each one. The hard work had begun.
I got lots of advice from Jake but the best piece was that you can’t out train a bad diet. Changing that wasn’t going to be easy, especially with my job so we started with breakfast, then sorted snacks and now pretty much everything. Avocados, eggs and nuts replacing sugary cereals and processed foods. With a better diet, the PT sessions and more exercise the results kept on improving.
Then came bootcamp. A game-changer. Jake invited me down to his bootcamps which I was very unsure about and had visions of some sort of insane SAS mission. What I found was not this but instead a group of like-minded individuals of all ages and ability, all wanting to achieve their goals and have loads of fun as a team. No egos in sight. The bootcamps are definitely not easy but with Jake motivating us we “get it done”.
The bootcamp team embark on many adventures with Jake’s support – climbing mountains, runs, charity challenges, tough mudders but the pinnacle is the Bootcamp Weekend. In a single weekend I achieved much more than I knew was possible, taking my fitness to new levels whilst laughing non- stop with some amazing people.
In the last 18 months, Jake has inspired me to change my lifestyle and become fitter. The new way of life now includes Bootcamps, PT sessions, diet advice, challenges and Weekenders which have helped me become fitter, stronger and lighter (50lbs lost) giving me more energy and achieving things I didn’t think I could, even the occasional pull up. It doesn’t stop here though and with Jake I have already set my next set of goals for 2017, signing up for Tough Mudder and another Bootcamp Weekend with this crazy lot.
I would definitely recommend Jake Wood. Cheers
